Ohio State Lima expands Tuition Assistance Grant program to include transfer students

Qualified students must apply by August 15

The Ohio State University at Lima is awarding all full-time Autumn 2006 transfer students who apply by August 15 at least $300 in Tuition Assistance Grant or scholarship money.

Ohio State Limaís Board of Trustees announced in June that all new full-time freshmen and returning full-time sophomores will receive at least $300 if they apply or have schedules by August 15.

"This is simply expanding the Board of Trustees program to include new transfer students," said Beth Keehn, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. "Our mission is to provide an internationally renowned University education to our community, so we want to be sure transfer students have the same opportunity."

Ohio State Lima historically serves 100 new transfers each autumn quarter.

"Many students think they want to go far away from home after high school, but once they are away they realize home wasnít so bad. Others are enticed to attend very expensive schools as freshmen, but canít afford stay after their first year. And still others get started on a path to earn a technical degree and decide they need a bachelorís degree to get the jobs they really want," said Keehn.

The funding for these grants and scholarships is made possible by the generosity of Alumni and the Lima community.

"Our donors recognize that increasing the number of highly educated people in our community will benefit everyone," said Amanda Miller, Director of Development.
