Ohio State’s chief academic officer to visit Lima Nov.10

Barbara Snyder, executive vice president and provost at The Ohio State University, will be at Ohio State Lima to visit students, staff, faculty and community leaders on Monday, Nov. 10, 2003.

The media are invited to talk to Dr. Snyder at 12:15 p.m. in the Public Service Board Room 214 following a luncheon session with community leaders.

As the provost, Dr. Snyder is the chief academic officer of the University with responsibilities that include academic programs and academic support ranging from faculty instructional issues to student academic affairs. Dr. W. Randy Smith, Vice Provost for Curriculum and Institutional Relations, will accompany Dr. Snyder on her visit. He is the chief liaison between Ohio State’s regional campuses and the Office of Academic Affairs.

President Karen A. Holbrook chose Dr. Snyder to serve in an interim position until a permanent replacement for former provost Edward J. Ray is named. Ray was named president of Oregon State University in June. At the time she was named interim provost, Snyder was a vice provost in the Office of Academic Affairs and a professor in the Moritz College of Law.
