Performing Arts and Lecture series welcomes one of world’s top theatre designers

One of the world’s top theatre designers in the world will be in Lima Monday, February 10, 2003, as part of the Performing Arts and Lecture Series at The Ohio State University at Lima and Rhodes State College.

Jaroslav Malina, the Commissioner General of the upcoming Prague Quadrennial theatre design exhibition and the former rector of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, will present his latest designs at noon in Reed Hall 160. Malina has a long history of collaboration with the Ohio State Lima theatre department and will design the inaugural production in spring 2004 in the renovated Reed Hall theater complex. He was named one of the top 15 working theatre designers by author Tony Davis in his book Stage Design (Rotovision 2001).

Malina was a political activist in the Cold War era and will answer questions on the political issues of the Czech Republic as well as theatre design.

The Performing Arts and Lecture Series is free and open to the public.

The next event in the series is a string quartet with members of Lima Symphony Orchestra led by David Stein at noon, Friday, February 14, 2003, in Reed 160. It is free and open to the public.
