FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 13, 2003 Contact: Pam Joseph at (419) 995-8284 or Erin McVicker at (419) 995-8332 Road to Fort Defiance topic of history talk at Johnny Appleseed The students of the Ohio State Lima History Club and the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District are sponsoring the latest event in the Ohio and Its People series. Dr. Randall Buchman will present The Road to Fort Defiance: General "Mad" Anthony Wayne's Trials and Tribulations in 1794 at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the McElroy Environmental Education Center, 2355 Ada Road. It is free and open to the public. Randall Buchman is Professor Emeritus of History and Archaeology at Defiance College. He specializes in Ohio Valley American Indian Studies. This event is co-sponsored by The Ohio State University at Lima History Club and the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District. Ohio and Its People is a yearlong celebration of the Ohio Bicentennial organized by The Ohio State University at Lima, the Allen County Historical Society, the Lima Public Library, the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, the Lima News, and WLIO TV-35. Other speakers and events in the Ohio and Its People series will be announced throughout the year.
