For Immediate Release November 8, 2002 CONTACT: Pam Joseph at (419) 995-8284 or Erin McVicker at (419) 995-8332 Ohio State Lima historian talks about Allen County’s contribution to WWII at museum Ohio State Lima History Professor Leo Daugherty will present “Technology and War: Allen County’s Contribution to Victory in World War II” at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Allen County Museum, 620 West Market Street. The event is sponsored by the Allen County Historical Society and Ohio State Lima and is part of Ohio and Its People. Dr. Daugherty teaches history at Ohio State Lima, and is the author of several books in military history, including The Battle of the Hedgerows (2001) and Fighting Techniques of a U.S. Marine: 1941-1945: Training, Techniques, and Weapons. He is a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm and is currently a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Forces. Ohio and Its People is a yearlong celebration of the Ohio Bicentennial organized by The Ohio State University at Lima, the Allen County Historical Society, the Lima Public Library, the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, the Lima News, and WLIO TV-35. Other speakers and events in the Ohio and Its People series will be announced throughout the year.
