Ohio State Lima says good bye to three long time faculty members
Jim Bode, Roger Page and Mary Lou Roush have more than 100 years combined service
The Ohio State University at Lima will celebrate the service of three retiring faculty members at on open house from 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in Public Service 212/213.
Dr. Roger Page, Professor of Psychology and head of Lima’s Psychology Department, started at Ohio State Lima as a graduate assistant in 1974 and has since worked his way to full professor status. His main area of research is hypnosis. Dr. Page has served extensively with the American Psychological Association and has received the Clark Hull Award for excellence in scientific journalism from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He has also earned the Ohio State Lima Outstanding Scholar Award, two Presidential Commendations from APA Division 30 for outstanding service and a Presidential Commendation from the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis for outstanding service.
Dr. James Bode, Associate Professor of Philosophy, began teaching at Ohio State Lima in 1973, and he has spent most of his career studying argument of one sort or other. He is currently studying informal logic and ways to develop tools which will assist in the analysis and evaluation of ordinary argument. Dr. Bode has also developed ArguDraw, a computer program that allows the diagramming of any argument.
Mary Lou Roush, lecturer in Education, also started at Ohio State Lima in 1973. Her focus has been on the evaluation of student teachers and she has worked extensively with the Freshman Early Experience (FEEP) and Sophomore Professional Introduction courses. She also served as the Senior Student Internship Coordinator, formerly called the student teaching program.
