Kevin McGuff to headline Spring for Scholarships Dinner and Auction

Tickets are now available for the Ohio State Lima’s Eleventh Annual Spring for Scholarships Dinner and Auction, Mon., May 5, 2014, at the Shawnee Country Club. Doors open at 6 p.m. A special Sponsors’ Reception will be held from 5-6 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Head Coach Kevin McGuff, head coach of Ohio State Women’s Basketball. He is in his first season at Ohio State and his 12th overall after nine seasons at Xavier University and the last two at the University of Washington. McGuff, who entered this season with an overall career record of 255-99, has taken his teams to the postseason each year. He coached Xavier to six NCAA Tournaments, which included a trip to the Elite Eight in 2010. He set a Xavier program record with 214 wins during his tenure there and went 14-0 in the Atlantic-10 in each of his last two seasons. At Washington, McGuff led the Huskies to back-to-back 20-win seasons in the Pac-12 in 2012 and 13 before accepting the job at The Ohio State University in April.

Proceeds from the evening support Ohio State Lima student scholarships. Since its inception, more than $300,000 has been raised for the endowed scholarship fund. To date, 42 students have benefitted from the generosity of friends and alumni who have attended the past events.

During the program, there will be a special recognition of longtime event emcee and supporter Tom Francis, who passed away in March. Francis was part of the original team who planned Spring for Scholarships and became instrumental in the continued success of it.

A variety of silent and live auction items will be available. Tickets are $50 for individuals and include dinner. Several sponsorship levels are also available. Seating is limited. For tickets, call the Office of Development at (419) 995-8260.
