Growing opportunities at Ohio State Lima
Three professors receive promotions, new roles
Dr. Joe Brandesky, professor of theatre at Ohio State Lima, was recently appointed by the OSU Board of Trustees as the Martha W. Farmer Endowed Professor of Theatre. This position is the first endowed professorship on any of Ohio State’s extended campuses. It is made possible by a donation from Martha W. Farmer. A specialist in Russian and Czech theatre, Dr. Brandesky has directed and co-directed more than 50 productions at Ohio State Lima, where he’s been since 1988. He was a recipient of the OSU Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2003.
Ruth Kinder was recently promoted to senior lecturer in chemistry. Kinder has been teaching at Ohio State Lima since 1995. She has been instrumental in developing interactive materials to blend traditional classroom work with computerized individual coursework. In 2006, she introduced the blended introductory chemistry sequence, which has online content blended with face-to-face lab experiences. Kinder is the 2004 recipient of the Ohio State Lima Outstanding Teaching Award.
Dr. Tony Shoup was recently promoted to senior lecturer of physics. Dr. Shoup is also the coordinator of the new First-Year Engineering Program at Ohio State Lima. Dr. Shoup has been with Ohio State Lima since 2005. He teaches courses in physics, astronomy and engineering. His research focuses on high energy astrophysics.
