Gilmore named Associate Dean at Ohio State Lima
The Ohio State University at Lima named Dr. Allison B. Gilmore, associate professor of history, as the new associate dean. In her new role, she will be responsible for all academic affairs at Ohio State Lima.
Dr. Gilmore has been with Ohio State Lima since 1991. She has served as the History Program Coordinator since 2002. Prior to coming to Ohio State, Dr. Gilmore taught at the State University of New York at Potsdam and also James Madison University. She has been the Ohio State University faculty liaison for two Teaching American History Grants awarded through the U.S. Department of Education totaling more than $1.9 million.
Dr. Gilmore’s area of expertise is American military history. She is the author of You Can’t Fight Tanks with Bayonets: Allied Psychological Warfare against the Imperial Japanese Army in the Southwest Pacific, a study of Allied propaganda operations designed to undermine Japanese military morale during the Pacific War. Dr. Gilmore teaches courses on American history, military history, comparative Asia, and modern Japan. She was awarded the Ohio State Lima Distinguished Teaching Award in 1999 and the Ohio State University Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2000.
Dr. Gilmore received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Nebraska and her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.
