Barons earn ORCC runner-up honors
Two players selected for ORCC First Team Regular Season and All ORCC Tournament Team
The Barons Men’s Basketball team won the state runner-up title for the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC) in the final tournament game against Miami University – Middletown on Sun., Feb. 27, 2011. They finished the season with a conference record of 10 wins and five losses and an overall record of 15 wins and 16 losses. Last year’s overall record was two wins and 27 losses.
“The level of competition in the ORCC was better than I expected,” said first-year Head Coach Quincey Simpson. “I was impressed by a lot of teams throughout the ORCC and have a better idea of what to expect next year.”
The majority of the team members are slated to return next season, but Simpson, or “Coach Q” as his players refer to him, plans to search for additional talented Barons.
“I hope to bring in some more size next season,” said Simpson. “I learned that you need size in order to be competitive in the ORCC.”
Two players were selected for the ORCC First Team Regular Season and All ORCC Tournament Team. LeMar Pughsley of Lima Senior High School and Keith Winn, Jr. of Trotwood Madison High School earned these honors.
Students from Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State College are eligible to play for the Barons. The teams compete against other colleges in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC).
