Programs for Professionals Saturday Series begins Oct. 17
Exploring Autism kicks off exciting opportunity for health care professionals and educators
The Office of Continuing Education at The Ohio State University at Lima will offer the first of three Programs for Professionals Saturday Series from 9:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Oct. 17, 2009, in Science 100. Cost to attend is $25 per program. Special prices are available for Ohio State Lima Education alumni and current Education students.
Exploring Autism will look at the signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, resources, impact and research trends of autism, a brain disorder that affects a personís ability to communicate, to reason, and to interact with others.† Recent reports have indicated that 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with autism or a related disorder by age eight. Shari Schmersal, LSW, MS, will present.
The second in the series, Constructive Conflict, will be offered Feb. 20, 2010. Eating Disorders will round out the series on April 17, 2010.
The programs are geared toward professional development for health professionals and educators. Those who attend all three sessions have the opportunity to earn up to two hours of graduate credit as well.
