Ohio State Lima works to lessen impact of new system on students

Implementation of a new software system that integrates all aspects of student life has slowed the awarding of financial aid for some students attending The Ohio State University this summer. The Financial Aid Office at Ohio State Lima is working to make the transition easier for students who are signed up for Summer Quarter classes.

“One of the benefits of being on a smaller campus is the one-on-one assistance that we are able to offer,” said Bryan Albright, coordinator of financial aid at Ohio State Lima. “We have been helping our students work through the new system as it becomes operational. We have been working with the Columbus campus to ensure that all the students’ information is correct and ready for next quarter.”

Media reports coming out of Columbus have alarmed some students who are worried about their financial aid packages being in place by the start of Summer Quarter. According to Albright, their educations will not be impacted.

The University is working out a systemic fix that should be in place before students resume classes on Monday, June 22, 2009. Individual questions and problems are also being addressed as they arise. Students attending the Lima Campus this summer or who are changing campuses from Lima to Columbus can call the Ohio State Lima Financial Aid Office at (419) 995-8147 for assistance.

The transition to the SIS software program has been a four year process. Summer Quarter 2009 is the first term that the system has been completely live.
