Hamilton, OH – Wednesday the Barons postseason run came to an end as they fell to UC Clermont 4 to 3. The game was close for the duration of the contest with the Barons adding a run to tie the game in the top of the 7th while leaving the bases loaded unable to take the lead. In the bottom of the 7th UC Clermont rallied to end the game with a game winning single to right field.
The loss tarnished an otherwise well played game by the Barons. Starting pitcher Mike Allen (Ada) went five innings, allowing 3 runs on only 3 hits. The Barons out hit UC Clermont 9 to 6, and they also didn’t commit an error. However, they just weren’t able to come up with the big hit when needed to break open the game and score some runs.
When asked to reflect on the game and season coach Livchak remarked, “These young men came along way this season, they accomplished a lot, learned a lot, and proved they can play with anyone in this conference. I am already looking forward to next season with many of these young men hopefully returning.”
The Barons finish the season with a record of 13 and 10, a vast improvement on the 2 and 13 record in 2007.
Thanks to all who have come out to support the Barons. We hope to see you again next year!
