Newark, OH – The Lady Barons had their season come to an end, Sunday, February 17th on the OSU Newark Campus in the 2nd round of the ORCC State Tournament.
The first half of the contest versus Ohio University Lancaster really was what set the tone for the game. OUL came out on fire, hitting what seemed like everything the put up, and building an early lead of 20 points in the first half. After that early start by OUL, the Lady Barons played them very closely, but were never able to close the gap any closer than 15 points, as the fell by the final score of 84 to 60.
Leading the way for the Lady Barons was Lauren McKinley (Kenton) with 13 points, Kayla Doepker (Lima Central Catholic) with 12 points, and Allison Brodman with 11 points.
The Lady Barons advanced to the 2nd round of the tournament by beating Miami University Hamilton in the first round of the ORCC State Tournament on Saturday. In that game the Lady Barons showed a lot of resolve as they continuously answered runs by MUH and eventually held on for the 58 to 53 win.
Leading the way for the Lady Barons in the win was Lauren McKinley with 20, and Allison Brodman with 12.
The season has come to a close on the 2007-08 edition of Lady Barons Basketball. The Lady Barons finished the season with a record of 6 wins and 17 losses. However, the record doesn’t accurately represent the strides that this team made throughout this season.
