Ada, OH – Tuesday the Barons went on the road and defeated the Ohio Northern University Polar Bear JV squad 81 to 71.
The game was tight for the majority of the night, with ONU leading by four at the half. However, in the 2nd half the Barons buckled down on defense and took a solid approach to the charity stripe as they knocked down 20 of 22 free throws attempted.
The Barons were led by their two leading scorers on the year thus far with Jordan Swift (Shawnee) and Brent Cook (Spencerville). Swift got the majority of his 26 points at the line, going 20 for 20 on the night. Cook dominated down low adding 21 points from the field.
The win raises the Barons’ record to 13 & 10 overall, 10 & 6 in the ORCC. The Barons currently are holding on to fourth place in the conference standings, with a very good chance at earning a first round bye in the State Tournament in Lancaster starting February 16th.
The Barons next game is Wednesday, January 30th as they travel to take on rival Wright State Lake with the tip set for 6pm. The Barons will then return home on Saturday, February 2nd to host the University of Akron Wayne with the tip set for 3pm following the Lady Barons contest that will start at 1pm.
