Lima, OH – On Saturday the Barons returned to their winning ways by
convincingly beating OU Zanesville 105 to 67.
The Barons jumped out to an early lead of 32
to 9, 10 minutes in to the game and never looked back from there. The score at
halftime was 57 to 25, and the Barons’ largest lead was with just over 11
minutes left in the game when they led 83 to 38.
It was an evening of balanced scoring with
five Barons reaching double digits for the game. Leading the way was DJ Evans
(Lima Central Catholic) with 23. Other key contributors were, Jordan Swift
(Shawnee) with 19, Justin Mayer (Shawnee) with 18, Dustin Williams (Upper
Scioto Valley) with 17, and Brent Cook (Spencerville) with 15.
The win raises the Barons’ record to 12 &
10 overall, 10 & 6 in the ORCC. The Barons currently are holding on to
fourth place in the conference standings, with a very good chance at earning a
first round bye in the State Tournament in Lancaster starting February 16th.
The Barons next game is Monday, January 28th
as they make the short trip over to Ada to take on
the ONU JV squad starting at 7pm, and again on the road Wednesday as they
travel to take on rival Wright State Lake with the tip set for 6pm. The Barons
will then return home on Saturday, February 2nd to host the
University of Akron Wayne with the tip set for 3pm following the Lady Barons
contest that will start at 1pm.
