Newark, OH – On Saturday the Barons led from tip to buzzer to lift their record back above .500 by topping The OSU Newark Campus 84 to 80.
The Barons were led on the night by a pair of 16 point efforts by Jordan Swift (Shawnee) and Justin Mayer (Shawnee). There were also 4 other Barons scoring in double digits on the evening as new comer Dustin Williams (USV) scored 15 points in his first outing of the season, Brent Cook (Spencerville) netted 14 points, D.J. Evans (Lima Central Catholic) had 13 points, and Daniel Dray (Cory Rawson) added 10 points.
The win was an emotional lift for the Barons as they fell to the OSU Newark Campus by four points back on December 10th. While the Barons do not play the Newark Campus again in regular season it is still a good confidence booster for the team when it comes to post season play in just over a month.
The Barons hope to stay above .500 when they return home to take on the Miami University at Hamilton Harriers on Wednesday, January 9th. The Barons got the best of the Harriers in their first matchup, winning 75 to 73. Tip off is set for 7:30pm for the men and 5:30pm for the women at the Hangar in Cook Hall.
Come out and support the Barons! Admission is free for all OSU and Rhodes State students.
