Lima, OH – The Barons Women’s Basketball Team is looking to build on a 2012-13 Season that showed some signs of promise. The Barons finished the year with a record of 5 & 10 in ORCC play last season, but that record can be misleading as one win came against one of the best in the conference last year, Wright State Lake, and several losses were by very narrow margins including a double overtime loss to OU Chillicothe on December 2nd, 2012.
When asked about his overall impression early on during pre-season workouts, 2nd Year Head Coach, Phil Sensabaugh talked up the amount of talent they have that returned as well as with several new talented freshmen, like last year’s leading scorer, Junior Forward, Dionna Hurley. Hurley averaged 20.9 points per game last year.
Coach Sensabaugh was quick to point out some key dates on their schedule this year that he and the team have circled. “November 6th is our first game vs Sinclair, we owe them. They like to pressure the ball a lot too, and that is great for our preparations for ORCC play. On November 11th we play at Newark on Veterans Day, and that means a lot to me personally!”
When asked about some strengths of the team and an overall view of what to expect from Barons Women’s Basketball this year, Coach Sensabaugh added “I see us in practice coming all together, some particular flashes with some of the new girls. With the reinstatement of the 10 second rule, it should benefit us because we are a team that likes to put the press on. If we can get our transition game in gear, we should score a lot of points while playing better defense too.”
The roster includes, Junior - Dionna Hurley – Lima Senior H.S., Sophomores – Megan Luginbuhl – Bluffton H.S., Kaylee Hooker – Hardin Northern H.S., Taylor Woodie – Northmont H.S., Jennifer Post – Spencerville H.S., Freshmen – Kami Siefring – St. Henry H.S., Katie Stahl – Celina H.S., Danielle Bihn – Celina H.S., Lindsey Jung – Jackson Center H.S.
The Barons start the season at home on November 6th at 5:30 vs Sinclair CC here in The Hangar. Come on out and support your Barons!
