Lima, OH – The Barons Mens Basketball team has got off to an excellent start to the 2010-11 season by winning 3 of their first 5 including non conference wins over Concordia and Oakland City University as well as a win in their ORCC opener on the road at Wright State Lake Wednesday evening by a score of 109 to 90.
Leading the way offensively for the Barons this year has been the combination LeMar Pughsley and Marlon Hutchins, especially in the last two games, both wins by the Barons. Pughsley, a Junior forward out of Lima Senior knocked down 19 in the win over Oakland City University and 22 in the win over conference rival Wright State Lake. Hutchins, a Freshman forward also out of Lima Senior added 17 in the Oakland City contest and a game high 26 versus Wright State Lake.
The Barons aren’t solely relying on their two scoring leaders though as already 14 different Barons have found the bottom of the nets. Also, in addition to Hutchins and Pughsley the Barons have 4 others that have recorded double digit nights. Erick Benton, a Sophomore guard out of Trotwood-Madison knocked down 12 against Concordia while Sophomore Robert Thompson a guard from Lima Senior also knocked down 12 against Concordia. Freshman Guard and Shawnee product Garrick Warthem led the Barons with 21 in their tight loss to Brescia University. Again, versus Oakland City University the Barons had a 3rd score double digits as Darion Brandon, the Freshman forward out of Dunbar added 10 points in the win.
The Barons return to action this Saturday, November 20th at 3pm as they host Sinclair Community College. Come out and support the Barons, admission is free to all Ohio State Lima/Rhodes State College Faculty, Staff, and Students.
