Lima, OH – The 2010 season of Barons golf has come to an end. It was a very up and down season for the Barons, but if nothing else it was a great learning experience for all involved.
At the ORC State Tournament the Barons finished in 7th place. Brandon Hemker was a medalist on Friday by shooting a 77 then on Saturday Brady Schroeder was a medalist for the Barons by shooting an 85 on a very cold and windy afternoon at Hamilton Elks.
When asked to comment on the season, Coach Jim Maley said “With the majority of the roster being new to college golf, a big adjustment is learning to play competitive in the Spring with the adverse weather in contrast to the Fall season that high school golf is played in. The Barons suffered through a lot of heavy winds and rains this season, and should be very prepared both mentally and physically for the years of ORCC golf to come.” With a large part of his roster returning, Coach Maley also seemed optimistic about the future of Barons golf “We have a large part of this year’s squad coming back next year, with a year of experience under their belt I am looking forward to next season already!”
Coach Maley is always available if you have an interest in being a Barons golfer in the future you can contact Coach Maley through the Barons Athletics Department at 419-995-8281 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
